Alexander Rose is partnered with a GC in Memphis currently seeking an integral addition to their preconstruction team. In this position, you will primarily be tasked with the development of construction costs estimates during all preconstruction planning phases.
Duties Include :
- Review and have thorough understanding of project drawings and specifications to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate for assigned divisions of work.
- Assist in establishing subcontractor bid list.
- Assist in preparation of pre-bid meetings for bidders as necessary.
- Assist in conducting pre-award meetings with bidders as required.
- Initiate and maintain contact with bidders for assigned divisions of work to assure maximum bidder participation.
- Prepare estimates for divisions of work assigned by calculating complete quantity takeoff and applying unit prices to arrive at the estimated cost of work.
- Solicit and receive budget and bid proposals from subcontractors for assigned divisions of work. Thoroughly evaluate proposals adjusting for exclusions and qualifications of each proposal and enabling an accurate comparison of proposals.
- Review design and recommend alternates for consideration based upon cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience :
- Educational and experience requirements include : 4-year construction management, building science or engineering degree or equivalent.
- 2+ years’ experience estimating commercial construction projects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) are required.
- Must be capable of mastering estimating software.
