The proofreader reviews and edits various marketing materials to ensure grammatical accuracy, readability, and alignment with Get Glow's brand voice and target audience.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in grammar and AP style, and can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities also include verifying facts, dates, names, and statistics for accuracy.

This role works closely with the Marketing Director over brand strategy and is part of the creative development marketing team.

You will also support other departments and teams throughout the organization, and outside agencies, as needed. This is a flexible position.

Key Responsibilities

• Identifying and correcting spelling, grammar and syntax errors in complex legal documents
• Detecting formatting and compositional errors in documents
• Performing text-to-text comparisons of documents, marking changes and performing quality assurance
• Blue Book citation checking, defined terms, Tables of Authorities and Tables of Contents in documents
• Monitoring for consistency throughout copies, materials and related documents

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• This position requires a degree in an applicable field of study, such as English or writing, or the equivalent education or experience, plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in editing and proofreading documents related to project assignments.
• Excellent written communication skills, including flawless English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Proficiency in the editorial style of the Government Publishing Office and AP.
• Knowledge of and experience with federal plain language guidelines and standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, most especially Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
• Proven working experience as a copyeditor or proofreader, and an excellent portfolio of edited products.
• Exceptional attention to detail along with critical thinking.
• Ability to successfully manage multiple, simultaneous assignments and deadlines.
• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and support quick turnaround requests
• Ability to multitask and prioritize requests
• The position requires initiative, dependability, and discretion in dealing with proprietary information.
