POSITION SUMMARY : The position requires someone who can work independently with minimal supervision in the Logistics Department.
The individual must be team-oriented and be able to effectively operate in a fast-paced, high volume work environment utilizing all available resources to analyze, standardize, streamline, and perform internal processes relating to freight rate management.
The overall goal is to do it right the first time to pay the carriers correctly, timely and reduce errors and collection problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS :
1. Freight Rate management
- Responsible for accurate and up-to-date freight rates for all prepaid vendors within SAP (includes freight rates entry, maintenance, clean up and standardization).
- Maintain and enter monthly FSC for vendors.
- Reconciliation of freight invoice errors.
- Accountable for ensuring necessary corrections are made in the system to prevent future occurrences of errors.
- Proactive monitoring of vendor receivables keeping LNA current from a carrier’s perspective.
2. Customer Service
- Establish and maintain good working relationships within department, and with customer service / shipping coordinator network and vendors.
- Work effectively with other departments to ensure smooth flow of information and resolution of issues.
- Provide requested data to field and internal managers relating to customer / vendor data and history (tons, price, special reports, etc.).
3. Reporting and Accounting Tasks
- Responsible for processing accessorial and transloading invoices along with weekly rail EFTs.
- Create and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders for processing and payment of leases, freight, third-party tools / products, and member association fees.
- Assist vendors with statements, balance due and discrepancies.
- Work with Shipping Coordinators / Customer Service to research and process Credits.
- Oversee carrier insurance compliance and reporting.
- Produce and research freight audit report.
- Participate in month end closing duties.
- Maintain track, land, and terminal leases in Tickler File and Sharebox.
4. Assist Logistics Manager as needed to ensure operational excellence in reduction of errors, resolution of collections issues, payment of carriers, etc.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
- Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
- Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations if needed.
- Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
- Will be working primary in an office environment but may need to go in mining environment.
- The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions : Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
- The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time) : Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
REQUIRED EDUCATION :
High School Diploma or GED. AA degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance, Engineering or technical related field or equivalent work experience in the field is desired.
PREFFERED EDUCATION :
BS Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field. A BS or BA technical or business degree.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE :
Must have at least 3 to 6 years in order to cash business process, logistics, customer service or related discipline in mining, manufacturing, and transportation environment.
PREFFERED EXPERIENCE :
SAP experience.
