Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations triggered by adverse media, global current events, and geopolitical changes.
- Perform independent reviews and analysis of possible suspicious activity to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA Patriot Act.
- Review, analyze and recommend course of action with respect to scope and methodology of reviews and seek guidance from manager when analysis identifies unusual or uncommon situations.
- Conduct complex and global investigations and summarize findings to Senior Management for evaluation of potential risk exposure to the Bank and follow up actions.
- Independently research and verify the accuracy of information obtained through referrals and in the context of investigations.
- Independently conduct documented enhanced due diligence on individuals, and entities, utilizing all available resources and exercise risk-based judgment to develop observations and recommendations.
- Initiate and respond to USA Patriot Act 314(a) / 314(b) inquiries from law enforcement and financial institutions.
- Conduct investigations stemming from SG’s Broker Dealer, Societe Generale Americas Securities ( SGAS ), referrals relating to potential market abuse and market manipulation.
- Conduct investigations involving bribery and corruption, fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, human trafficking, drug trafficking, organized crime, crypto currencies fraud, and cyber fraud, among other.
- Ability to clearly, succinctly, and consistently document and support judgments, decisions and rationale including maintaining records in accordance with business unit standards.
- Prepare Suspicious Activity Reports ( SARs ) efficiently and within regulatory guidelines.
- Apply project management and organization skills to a variety of tasks including ad-hoc assignments.
- Collaborate with members of other teams within Financial Crimes Compliance ( FCC ) to implement initiatives and projects sponsored and approved by FCC management.
- Conduct FCC AML Trainings to SG Branches globally and to Business Units within Société Generale Americas to instill consistency within the SGUS and SG Group Financial Crimes Compliance Program.

Division Description :
The US Compliance department carries out Second Line of Defense monitoring of the corporate banking, investment banking and broker dealer activities across Societe Generale’s US operations, reporting on the compliance risks and issues to local, regional, and head office management.
The staff provide the business lines with guidance on relevant laws, rules, and regulations applicable to their activities and the development of related policies, procedures, training, and controls.
The department ensures compliance with US securities, banking, and anti-money laundering and sanctions regulations, oversees key processes and risks of the Know-Your-Customer program.
Additionally, it provides trade and communications surveillance, and manages transversal support functions that help the department achieve its goals.

Skills and Qualifications :
Must Have :
- 5-8 years of relevant compliance experience in the financial services industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of the laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), The USA PATRIOT ACT, OFAC, FinCEN requirements, and SAR requirements.
- Knowledge of Capital markets (FINRA licensure is a plus).
- Excellent research skills, including experience with online research tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills including ability to problem solve.
- Self-starter with strong ability to work independently.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities and effectiveness in prioritizing workflow to meet critical deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (, MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Access, MS-PowerPoint and MS-Outlook).
Nice to Have :
- Proficiency in a foreign language, a plus
