This position typically reports for 37-42 weeks of work with an assigned YOLA site. Opportunities for additional weeks of work, as desired, is possible and offered for other YOLA and Learning department projects outside of the site program.

Program Summary :
YOLA provides incomparable and equitable access to a high-quality and intensive music education for more than 1,700 elementary, middle, and high school students from diverse and vibrant communities across Los Angeles at five unique sites.
In providing this access, YOLA supports young people to leverage their learned skills and artistic identities and create transformational change for themselves and their communities.
In 2021, the Beckmen YOLA Center was opened as a purpose-built space for program-wide YOLA activities as well as a cultural arts resource in the city of Inglewood.
Position Summary :
Responsible for supporting the work at our YOLA Sites, the Site Assistant, YOLA reports to the YOLA Site Program Manager and consistently collaborates with the YOLA Senior Program Coordinator, Teaching Artists as well as other YOLA and Learning team members across the department.
Site Assistants are essential to the daily infrastructure of programming and support the implementation of site operations and communication.
YOLA programming mirrors the academic year inclusive of summer programming. Programming primarily happens during the after-school hours (between 3 : 00-7 : 00pm) and weekends as well dependent on the YOLA site.
This position is for skilled individuals who have a passion for working with young people, appreciation / knowledge of music and music education, as well as a commitment to for social change through music.
Hours for this position range between 15 - 20 hours per week.
Minimum Requirements
SCOPE OF WORK
Operations / Programming :
- Assist with daily operations, including schedule changes, ensemble rehearsals and musician sign in / sign out
- Prepare all materials and items needed to run programming
- Assist in setting up and breaking down all rooms and spaces each day for programming
- Supervise musicians and ensure that the program schedule is followed; lead during pivotal transition points during programming time
- Support musicians and teaching artists with any materials needed for rehearsals or performances
- Assist with the recruitment process, maintaining student information and preparing materials needed for recruitment events and other related items
- Assist with the creation of schedules, databases / lists, production and event running orders
- Support the implementation of evaluation processes, particularly related to curriculum
Inventory / Data Maintenance :
- Assist with data entry for the site and maintenance of attendance records for musicians
- Maintain daily input of all data systems as applicable
- Work directly with Instrument Coordinators, Music Librarians, and other YOLA staff to maintain inventory for the site and ensure accuracy
Administrative / Communication :
- Assist with the distribution, collection and organizing of information related to evaluations and site program surveys
- Support the YOLA team in distributing communication to families regarding events, performances or outside opportunities.
- Preparing and proofreading communication pieces including presentations, newsletters, talking points, information for web and social media, and marketing pieces
- Assisting YOLA / Learning staff as needed, supporting company-wide educational and community initiatives and related communications, pre-concert and concert duty, etc.
- Other projects and duties as assigned

- Interact with stakeholders of the YOLA community, including but not limited to administrators, partners, teaching artists, alumni, parents, and young musicians.
