Animal Care Attendant
Part Time
Essential Functions :
- Independently opening / closing the Equestrian Center
- Caring, feeding, grooming, and maintenance of all barn animals following established procedures
- Creating an optimal environment for all animals by cleaning and maintaining habitats per each individual animal’s needs
- Maintaining horse equipment
- Administering routine medications under the direction of the ESMA Equestrian Center Director and / or Veterinarian is something that the employee will be responsible for.
- Back up staffing coverage
Qualifications :
- Equine experience required including, but not limited to, tacking / untacking, leading, and safely working around horses.
- 1+ years’ related experience in an equine setting in a recognized public or private agency
- Must be comfortable in working independently in a barn setting, supporting horseback riding and small animal activities.
- Knowledge of the types and uses of materials and equipment used in equine activities as well as following and knowing the many safety practices and procedures
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities including understanding of adapted equipment and behavior management (preferred)
- If selected for hire, candidates must be able to provide a recent physical indicating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job either with or without accommodations and required immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Tdap, Varicella).
