PURPOSE OF THE POSITION :
- The Special Education Procedural Coach is responsible for applying current rules and regulations to ensure that the IEP is written to support an approved instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with applicable law, District requirements and policies;
- documentation of teaching and student progress / activities / outcomes; addressing of specific educational needs of students;
providing timely feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist and support the planning, development, and implementation of programs designed to meet the individual needs of students : Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and administrative rules that affect special education programs and services.
Support Individual Education Program (IEP) development. Collaborate with district staff to provide the least restrictive environment (LRE) for students with disabilities within the continuum of programs and services.
Assist in creating the schedule for paraprofessionals to provide individual assistance to students according to their IEP and monitor for efficiency.
Coordinate the implementation of specialized assessments to meet the needs of students with disabilities. This includes assisting with completing a schedule for local and state assessments to ensure students receive accommodations.
Regularly conduct needs assessments of special education students and processes through observations, compliance checks and other means.
Provide ongoing training and technical assistance to school based staff members. Work cooperatively with building principals and district administrators to resolve issues and ensure the effective and efficient provision of special education programs and services.
Participate with Special Education Administration during Due Process / Mediation hearings.
- Participate on a school or district-based team to interview applicants and make hiring recommendations for employment to staff special education programs.
- Support families in understanding their student’s needs related to their disability and due process under the procedural safeguards.
Advocate family participation as a member of the student support team.
- Recommend budget items to support appropriate programming that aligns with district initiatives, not otherwise submitted directly to the building principals.
- Attend IEP meetings and other student-centered meetings to ensure the appropriate development of implementation of programs and services.
- Coordinate and directs transportation requests.
- Work with outside agencies (, vocational agencies).
- Assume any other duties as may from time to time be delegated by the supervisor and the supervisor may make any adjustment in the scope of responsibilities as outlined above which will be in the best interest of the school district.
EDUCATION / TRAINING :
Must hold current Professional Educator License in a special education related field.
