Job Description

We have a great opportunity for a skilled Scientist to join our dynamic TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) group.

The TEM Scientist will be responsible for :

• Partnering with team members to provide high quality analysis service to clients.
• Operating TEM tools to obtain TEM / STEM images, SAED, EDS and EELS data from samples.
• Developing TEM analysis protocols / techniques to meet clients’ requests.
• Creating summary reports to capture the project objectives, analysis data and interpretation of the results.

A typical day would involve-

• Operating the TEM tools (FEI or JEOL electron microscopes) and collecting TEM / STEM images based on customers' requests
• Performing elemental analysis such as EDS / EELS (collecting / process the data and creating the reports)
• Engaging in discussions with the customers to solve their questions and concerns

Work Schedule : 5pm-2am, Tuesdays to Saturdays

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Materials Science or related field.
• Must have 3yrs+ hands-on experience in TEM analysis characterizing a variety of materials.
• Excellent understanding of the operations and principles of TEM tools.
• Expert background in electron microscopy, including TEM / STEM, SAED, 4D-STEM, EDS and EELS, etc.
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).

What would set you apart :

• Familiarity with FEI and JEOL electron microscope tools.
• Experience with semiconductor chip products and wafer samples is a plus.

Physical Requirements :

• Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
• Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.
• Ability to communicate clearly and understandably ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
• Ability to handle small and fragile devices with tweezers and / or fingers.
• Require close distance visual acuity with or without correction (Glasses, Contacts, etc.).
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.

Additional Information

Compensation Range : $100,000-$120,000. (Salary is commensurate with experience and degree of technical expertise. Additional evening shift differential will apply.)
