Job Description

The Credit Analyst provides exceptional service to Commercial Relationship Managers bank wide, through analyzing basic commercial and agriculture loan requests, identifying strengths and weaknesses, providing recommendations, and noting any deviations from Unity's Loan Policy.

The Credit Analyst works collaboratively with commercial relationship staff, loan operations, compliance, and other bank departments to help create a productive, team-oriented work environment that leads to customer excellence.

Principal Responsibilities & Duties :

  • Delivers meaningful, detailed credit analysis while providing efficient timely service to commercial relationship managers.
  • Accurately analyzes financial statements (including performance ratios) to develop initial assessment by identifying strengths and weaknesses pertaining to borrower’s historical operating performance.
  • Prepares a thorough, in-depth, written analysis of new credit requests, credit change requests, renewals and annual relationship reviews.
  • Ensures that all credit files are complete, identifies any document deficiencies, and reports to Commercial Relationship Manager, Loan Operations, and / or Commercial Credit Manager, as needed for timely resolution.
  • In order to prevent renewing loans from appearing on the delinquency list, advises loan officers about expiring lines of credit and assists in the renewal of the line in a timely fashion.
  • Works collaboratively with Commercial Relationship Managers to anticipate, identify, and collect documents needed for efficient, and timely approvals on new and existing credits
  • Participates in customer meetings as requested by Customer Relationship Managers (may require travel as needed).
  • As requested, works with Commercial Credit Manager to manage delinquencies, work-outs, collections and foreclosure activities.
  • Works collaboratively with loan operations, lenders, and other support to collect all pertinent information required for the loan presentation and to monitor the existing portfolio.
  • Collects and maintains industry data; research industry specific information from outside sources including conversations with the borrower, industry publications, references from other banks, credit agencies, as well as accessing information through the internet.
  • Maintains an active knowledge base of all of the Bank's loan products and the Bank's Loan Policy and procedures in order to identify exceptions to policy.

Education & Experience

Experience Required / Preferred :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organization, research and follow up skills.
  • Banking industry experience preferred
