Responsibilities and Duties
Daily Operations
- Ensure compliance and properly execute the outlined policies and procedures of the Performance Work Statement
- Keep Squadron Operations / Training Officer and Site Manager informed of any issues and training requirements.
- Additional duties may be assigned to include CIS scheduling and flow charts for the SIMs utilizing tools provided, snivel log.
- Perform duties assigned by the Schedule writer lead, the Site manager and assistant site manager.
- Assist the Squadron Operations / Training Officers and the Schedule Lead in the production of the VFA-122 daily flight schedule.
- Construct the daily flight schedule in accordance with Naval publications / Naval Instructions to ensure that the highest level of training is achieved while adhering to all guidelines and safety policies to mitigate supervisory error while training aviators in the high risk environment of FA-18 tactical employment.
Publications that provide schedule oversight include but are not limited to : CNAF , Strike Fighter Wing Standard Operating Procedures, Squadron Operating Procedures, Strike Fighter Master Syllabus Guides, T / M / S NATOPS, CV NATOPS, and LSO NATOPS, ACM Training Rules, NVG Training Rules, and LATT Training Rules.
- Manage the previous day’s smooth flight schedule and update the student tracking board for all completed academic, simulator, and flight events.
- Must be fluent in Microsoft Office Suite products. Utilize Outlook (emails / calendar) as well as Google Chrome for the squadrons readiness and scheduling tool (SHARP
- Review DCAST (Data Collection and Range Scheduling Tool) for available range times and training airspace.
- Write the current week’s fleet simulator schedule utilizing Microsoft Excel and log any simulator events in DCAST that have not been submitted by fleet squadron personnel.
- Review the Master Syllabus Guide(s) and schedule student throughput to include watch standing, physiology, aeromedical (flight surgeon), academics, simulator, and flight training events utilizing Microsoft Excel.
- Manage the Instructor Under Training (IUT) qualifications list utilizing Microsoft Excel.
- Coordinate with the active duty Operations Representative (Ops Rep) for the week to prioritize training flow and timelines to ensure students / classes are on track for upcoming phase detachments.
Manage the CAT other and instructor under training curriculum.
- Manage time off requests (leave / snivels) for students, CAT others and instructors.
- Flow priority training events and manage student training day to ensure there are no conflicts with academics, simulator, watch standing and flight events.
- Write contract instructor work flow in accordance with the master syllabus guide (MSG).
- Write the active duty instructors work flow in accordance with the master syllabus guide (MSG).
- Flow required watches (ODO, SDO, IMO, LSO, LSO Writer).
- Flow students (3 minimum) for daily FOD walk down assignment.
- Export the simulator schedule into Microsoft Word from SHARP.
- Edit and save the smooth simulator schedule and manage long term schedule archive folders.
- Track total contract simulator instructor time (daily / monthly) utilization Microsoft Excel
- Coordinate with contract instructor scheduling personnel for total CI hours and daily instructor work flow.
- Draft / Write and disseminate Rough and Smooth Flight and Simulator daily schedules.
- Rough Simulator Schedules shall be sent via the established distro list NLT 1300 Daily.
- All Smooth Flight and Simulator Schedules shall be sent via established distro lists NLT 1600 Daily
Weekly Operation
- Attend Weekly Planning Meeting and coordinate the week’s FRS training priorities with the Operations Officer, Training Officer, Operations Representative, Schedules Officer (Schedule Manager), CAT Other Coordinator, Phase Heads, and Lead Civilian Instructor.
- The Ops Rep will usually be in attendance for the weekly planning meeting, but in their absence, the Flight / Simulator & Ground Events Manager will fill in to oversee the meeting.
- Attend weekly Airspace / Simulator / Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) Schedule Meeting and coordinate with the Fleet and CSFWP for any FRS scheduling requirements.
- Manage day prior change requests to the fleet schedule (additions / deletions) and input updates into DCAST.
- Manage flight physiologist training availability to include ROBD, Night Lab and Level-A Aeromedical Training, this includes : Aero Medical Ejection Training, Sensor Physiology Training, Laser Eye Training, High Performance, High Altitude Physiology Training, G-Tolerance Improvement Training Program, Aviation Life Support Systems Training, and Survival Radio Equipment Training.
- Respond to questions the Fleet may have in regards to simulator or ground training events.
- Manage the booking and use of squadron auditorium and briefing spaces for VFA-122 and other commands that require the use of the training squadrons larger presentation spaces.
- Coordinate with the PR shop for flight gear, JHMCS and dry suit fittings.
- Liaise with Simulator building to account for resource scheduling (TOFTS, CIs, etc.)
- Ensure that all flight crew personnel scheduled for flight are in an up status (SHARP tracking) to include :
Instructor Aircrew :
- NATOPS qualified (1 year),
- Instrument qualified (1 year).
All Aircrew :
- Instrument Ground School and Crew Resource Management Training complete (1 year),
- Aero medically (up chit) qualified (1 year),
- Ejection seat qualified (1 year),
- Level-A qualified (1 year),
- Reduced Oxygen Breathing Device (ROBD) qualified (2 years),
- Swim / physiology current (4 years).
- Coordinate executive schedules for the Commander and Executive Officers of VFA-122.
- Coordinate CAT Other and Senior Officer and / or special case training tracks for the FA-18 syllabus refresher course.

Pay Rate :
The rate for this position is $;However, Valiant considers several factors, including but not limited to, market data, business considerations, internal equity, the role and responsibilities of the position, a candidate’s work experience, education, and training, when extending an offer.
