The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full time Paralegal 1 in the Social and Health Services Section of the Christine O.

Gregoire Spokane Division. This position is located in Spokane, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees.

Paralegal 1 Salary Range 51 : $54,204 - $72,924. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The following stipends may apply based on position requirements :

  • Incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.
  • Incumbents assigned to a position designated as requiring dual language skills will receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend.

Division Information :

The Christine O. Gregoire Spokane Division provides legal services in Eastern Washington to many agencies and institutions of state government.

The Social and Health Services Section is fast-paced, complex, and litigation intensive. SHS focuses on our vulnerable populations, handling cases involving children and vulnerable.

They also handle licensing matters involving foster homes, adult family homes and daycares.

What does a Paralegal 1 do?

This position supports AAGs by performing complex legal support functions, i.e., organize and maintain case files during litigation, independently prepare legal pleadings and correspondence, including motions, proofreads, set hearings, ensure witness fee agreements are prepared and returned for processing, uses calendar and case management systems to manage cases, trains others on technology and software used to perform legal work, trains and / or mentors lower level staff and serves as resource for staff regarding technical legal assignments.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Combination of three years of experience through paralegal certification, two-year paralegal degree, and / or paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney.

You may have gained applicable paraprofessional experience through previous Paralegal or Legal Assistant work.
