FUNCTION :

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Director of Partnership and Community Engagement is the primary liaison to the community and other agencies serving Guilford County to identify further needs, establish and sustain potential partnerships / collaborations, and assess opportunities to expand partnerships and community partners to reach and serve all beneficiaries.

This position will be responsible for establishing donor relationships and promoting capital raising for Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas (VOACC) from community fundraising, foundations / trusts, and developing other key income streams : individual donors, corporate donors, sponsorships, event promotion, capital and other specialty campaigns.

This position requires an in-depth understanding of VOACC vision, regional key initiatives, funding sources, current and future programs and practices.

Additionally, this position will also be the helm of coordination of strategic community partnerships that positively impact community education, partnership building, de-stigmatizing services offered, goal and initiative advancement, including primary health, behavioral health, psychosocial services, community support, business partnerships, volunteers, mentors, and special projects that support direct and indirect services for black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC).

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES :

  • The Director of Partnerships and Community Engagement will collaborate with key community partners to drive the development and execution of initiatives and campaigns that support Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas mission of serving pregnant and parenting women and children, with a focus on BIPOC Women (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color).
  • The Director of Partnerships and Community Engagement will work in collaboration with key branch staff to raise awareness and utilization of Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas services throughout the North Carolina area.
  • Serve on appropriate committees or boards to gain awareness of activity and projects in the region around maternal health, behavioral health, substance use disorders, support services for BIPOC, economic development, racial justice, etc.
  • Coordinate with appropriate community partners and stakeholders regarding high-impact projects where VOACC might participate.
  • Continue our strong partnerships with other nonprofits working in these same areas by identifying ways in which VOACC may support those organizations, work with those organizations, and build continued alliances.
  • Extend VOACC’s community engagement reach into rural areas of Guilford County, through and including throughout North Carolina as appropriate.
  • Become a trusted community partner and leader in untapped areas of care by collaborating on projects that serve our mission groups, grounding VOACC’s work in actual community need.
  • Engage with public officials, media, and public relations, as appropriate and needed, on issues concerning the communities we have pledged to serve as approved by VOACC media and public relations policies and procedures.
  • Support programs in our local area that make our members aware of VOACC’s mission, products, and services.
  • Work with VOACC leadership to identify how our products and services can support the needs of our partners and community members that also align with VOACC's existing offerings.
  • Participate in formal, as well as informal trainings, to maintain deep and current knowledge of all pregnant and parenting children-maternal products and services.
  • Analyze trends in the community to identify potential opportunities to develop / strengthen community partnerships that will lead to growth in our outreach and engagement opportunities.
  • Facilitate the development of a strategic plan for VOACC partnerships and community engagement in the Guilford County area with input from community stakeholders and other VOACC program teams and local community members.
  • In coordination with treatment staff and program teams, create pipelines to expand use of our services.
  • Analyze partnership opportunities in context of VOACC priorities and operational and programmatic / underwriting realities and coordinate with various product leads, loan officers and branch managers.
  • Develop and execute strategies for raising mission-aligned donations and funding support from socially responsible investors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals, nonprofit organizations, faith-based and philanthropic organizations, banks, businesses, and others interested in community and socially responsible investment.
  • Communicate impact to our investors to keep them engaged.
  • Make regular contact with key investors to provide enhanced stewardship and gain a better understanding of the reasoning they have for opening or closing large deposits with us.
  • Work with investor relations team to assess data regarding the inflow and outflow of deposits, as well as the impact of campaigns and outreach efforts.
  • Hold local forums, in coordination with branch staff, to introduce VOACC to potential partners, members, and depositors.
  • Prepare communication materials that will answer impact, financial, and insurance-related questions from potential investors.
  • Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary.
  • Financial Sustainability for Mission Impact.
  • Monitor competitors, market conditions and product development (service offerings) to position VOACC favorably in all categories.
  • Complete all required unit and / or program reports and / or documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with VOACC policies and procedures (e.

g. PTO requests, expense sheets, training requests, etc.).

Additional function includes :

  • Develop, enhance and maintain effective strategic community partnerships and alliances that enhance beneficiary achievement.
  • Coordinate career partnerships with local colleges, universities, and institutions of higher learning that result in student internships and job shadowing opportunities.
  • Recruit and support mentor and volunteer programs.
  • Coordinate resource development with district’s foundation.
  • Serve as liaison to community groups and organizations.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • An understanding of systems of power and oppression, particularly around race, class, gender, sexual orientation, religion and culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Comfort in working with people from other cultures.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Durham and other branches, community events, other regions.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, and travel when necessary.
  • Ability to demonstrate VOACC’s Core Values and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Experience with non-profit behavioral health, substance use, or healthcare required.
  • Demonstrated experience in building community partnerships.
  • Proven experience and connections with Guilford County agencies, providers, etc, highly preferred.

OTHER :

  • Must have intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication, leadership, problem solving, and teambuilding skills.

  • Must possess the ability to learn and / or operate relevant computer operating system environments, and the ability to operate a variety of office equipment (fax machine, copier, scanner, computer, telephone system, etc.).
  • Must be detail oriented, have excellent organizational skills and be flexible.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Show appreciation for and ability to respond to cultural differences, and adjust communication practices accordingly to minimize cross-cultural misunderstandings.
  • Consistent work attendance and compliance with scheduled work hours (excludes approved FMLA absences).
  • Responsible for complying with VOACC Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Must comply with all VOACC policies and procedures.
  • Exercise due diligence to prevent, detect, and report unlawful and / or unethical conduct by fellow co-workers, professional affiliates and / or agents.
  • Must possess / maintain a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance and a driving record that meets the guidelines and requirements of the organization.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Display a positive work ethic.
