Farallon Consulting, L.L.C. has a full-time opening for an experienced Regional Operations Manager / Principal in our Portland, Oregon office.

What we are looking for

Farallon is currently seeking a Regional Operations Manager / Principal to lead our team of environmental professionals in Oregon.

This is a full-time leadership role within Farallon that will work collaboratively with other members of our Executive Leadership Team to build on Farallon's success in the Portland market and throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Mentorship, management, and business development for consulting services in Oregon will be a core responsibility of this position.

We are seeking candidates with a proven track record of team leadership and technical expertise in the environmental consulting industry.

Your job will require regular interaction with staff, clients, teaming partners, and vendors to maximize our team's potential while exceeding client expectations.

A thorough understanding of Farallon's core services is essential to managing the diverse group of professionals in our Oregon offices.

Leadership responsibilities

  • Leading and professionally developing regional staff
  • Leadership duties with an emphasis on coaching and employee development
  • Overseeing daily operations of the region
  • Establishing, tracking, and achieving regional goals
  • Overseeing region profitability and performance
  • Directing and overseeing the region's financial and budgetary activities
  • Planning and executing hiring strategy to ensure appropriate regional staffing
  • Managing business development efforts towards achieving regional revenue goals
  • Communicating strategy to regional staff and leading strategic initiatives
  • Identifying and mitigating risks to the business (financial, operational, legal, or reputation)
  • Managing all aspects of office administration including facilities and administrative staff
  • Collaborating with other Regional Operation Managers (ROMS) to ensure synergy across Farallon
  • Promoting and modeling Farallon's Core Values
  • Managing and adhering to Farallon's quality standards

Technical responsibilities

  • Preparing proposals, scopes of work, and final deliverables related to areas of technical expertise.
  • Managing project budgets and resources, complete budget tracking, invoicing, and amendments as required.
  • Directly managing projects related to areas of technical expertise.
  • Coordinating and overseeing staff, outside contractors, and vendors for assigned projects.

What you will need to succeed

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience in environmental consulting or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of both Federal and State environmental regulations. Experience in multi-media compliance, environmental due diligence, site characterization, and remediation are desirable.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and understanding of consulting business practices.
  • Strong written, communication, and software skills.
  • Previous or current experience in environmental consulting.
  • Current leadership experience strongly preferred.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Professional license or certifications as applicable (RG, PE, CHMM, etc.)
  • Professional connections in Portland and across the state of Oregon
  • Experience working with clients and / or regulators in California and Washington

Salary Range

Our best estimate of the base salary range for this position, located in the Portland Metro Area is $170,000 - $200,000. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity.

Farallon reviews and updates salary ranges annually, and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance.

The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Farallon's total compensation package for our employee-owners.
