Job Description
The Director of Portfolio Management and Wealth Strategy (Director) position requires a broad and deep understanding of sophisticated investment strategies, wealth planning, risk management and fiduciary standards.
The ideal candidate will be able to operate in a semi-autonomous and entrepreneurial environment while maintaining a sales and client-centered focus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead in-depth discussions on asset allocation, risk, investment performance, economic, and financial market trends with clients.
- Assist with the design of investment strategies with other senior management.
- Guide the implementation of best in class investment management strategies among all portfolio management team members.
- Chair or co-chair the Investment Committee.
- Ensure portfolio management team’s fidelity to established investment processes.
- Monitor and approve trades as necessary, for the portfolio management team.
- Review, improve and approve as needed, team investment management materials, RFPs and performance reporting for clients and prospects.
- Design, refine and monitor the wealth planning delivery model, process and client deliverables.
- Coordinate with wealth and trust advisers on in-depth wealth planning deliverables for clients and prospects.
- Evaluate financial products and services on the Wealth Management platform and recommend changes when necessary.
- Maintain and periodically review contracts and other documentation relating to arrangements with third party vendors.
- Complete assigned account annual reviews ( Reg-9 reviews) and related paperwork and records maintenance.
- Coordinate with compliance to enforce internal policies and procedures, as well as adhere to federal and state regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- MBA or advanced degree in Finance or related fields strongly preferred
- CFA, CFP, CIMA or other advanced accreditations required.
- Minimum of twelve (12) years investment management and fiduciary portfolio management experience required
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in leading teams required
- Advanced understanding of fiduciary wealth management principles required
- Strong, successful track record that meets or exceeds goals set consistently
- Ability to foster teamwork and motivate teams required
- Client-centric with excellent strategic thinking ability and consultative skills
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required
- Strong proficiency with research / analytics tools (Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, Investor’s View, FirstRate)
- Ability to work with challenging clients and diverse groups of people
- Demonstrated experience in effective relationship management preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
- Flexibility to accommodate work outside normal business hours required
- Ability to travel up to 25% required
