Position Title : TRACTOR TRAILER SERVICE WRITER
Location : MIDLAND
FLSA Class : NON-EXEMPT
Responsible to : SHOP MANAGER
Position Summary : The position of Service Writer is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to mechanics on tractor & trailer maintenance repair.
Your primary role is to act as a bridge between drivers and the technical staff, ensuring accurate documentation, efficient workflow, and overall customer satisfaction on getting all repairs translated correctly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Service Documentation : Create and maintain detailed repair orders, accurately documenting driver information, vehicle identification, service requests, and any additional notes or instructions.
Ensure all necessary information is properly recorded for technicians to perform repairs.
- Service Coordination : Coordinate with fleet manager and technicians to optimize workflow and minimize downtime. Keep fleet manager informed about the progress of tractor trailer repairs, including any delays or additional services required.
- Technical Support : Collaborate with technicians to gather information about vehicle diagnostics, repair processes, and estimated completion times.
Relay this information to fleet manager accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring transparency and managing company expectations.
Administrative Tasks : Perform various administrative duties, such as maintaining service records, updating TMT databases, and organizing service department files and documentation.
Other Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Excellent customer service skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Must be comfortable with working in a shop environment.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in computer systems and software applications for service management and record keeping.
