MNA - MEDICATION NURSING ASSISTANT

Overview :

The MNA (Medication Nursing Assistant) position is designed for a Licensed Nursing Assistant ( LNA) who has at least two years of full t i me employment as an LNA and who has comp l eted an approved Med i catio n Nurse Assistant Train i ng Progra m .

The MNA ' s primary responsibility is the adm i n i strat i on of medications to residents . We are looking to fill a 2p-10p MNA position at Webster at Rye.

Responsibilities :

• Fo ll ows phys i cian orders and admin i ster s regular l y scheduled ora l, t opical , suppositor y , nasal and ocular medications to residents who are c li n i cally sta b l e .
• Consults with the Nurse to assess a resident who reques t s a prn ( as needed ) medicatio n .
• Reports to Nurse observations regard i ng changes in res i den t ' s status .
• Observes the five rights of medicat i on admin istration.
• Ensures that Resident's medications are re-ordered i n a timely fashion and are avai l able for scheduled and prn adm i nistratio n .
• Adheres to duties and responsibi l i t i es as LNA.
• Completes any duties as assigned.
• Provide patient care under supervision as assigned.
• Serve meals, feed those patients who require it and assist patients in the dining room.
• Provide fluids and nourishment for the residents.
• Maintain a safe, attractive and comfortable environment for the residents, with special consideration to cleanliness, ventilation, lighting, repairs and furniture arrangement.
• Answer resident's call for assistance promptly.
• Report to the supervising nurse immediately if the resident complains, has a change in condition, or whenever other special needs arise.
• Provide special services for residents not needing professional skills.
• Perform specific functions as are taught by professional personnel in accordance with Community policies.
• Carry out housekeeping functions on the unit that are not specifically assigned to the Housekeeping Department.
• Carry out technical duties and procedures as assigned if she / he has satisfactorily completed an in-service program on such.
• Maintain good relationships with residents and their families and friends as well as with the public in general.
• Transport residents as required.
• Assume all other duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.
• Assume responsibility for self-safety and safety of immediate work environment.
• Responsible for attendance at annual in-service programs with regards to body mechanics, right-to-know laws and fire and safety procedures.

Qualifications :

• Medication Nurse Assistant (MNA) licensed by the State of New Hampshire.
• Experience in long-term care preferred but not required.
