POSITION OVERVIEW
FULL-TIME
The Building Supervisor is a facility and event representative for Oral Roberts University (ORU). The position coordinates events and building upkeep in the Aerobics Center and the Soccer Complex.
Provides : overall supervision of student workers; oversees all athletic activities within these facilities; maintains safety, security and cleanliness of facilities.
Maintains the exterior and perimeter of each; oversees event set-up and tear-down; and opens and / or closes the facility for assigned shift / event.
This includes organizing, supervising and coordinating auxiliary support services and personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides supervision of the Aerobics Center facilities including making sure the building is staffed by student workers and oversees all activities within the building.
- Enforces all building policies and adherence to the same. Directly supervises up to 15 student workers each semester.
- Works with Student Employment office for the purposes of interviewing, hiring, assigning duties, supervising, reviewing and on occasion dismissing assigned student workers.
Ensures student workers are aware of and follow all policies and procedures.
- Manages weekly scheduling of assigned student workers to include approving schedule changes.
- Ensures proper use of cleaning agents and equipment.
- Provides routine inspections of buildings and rooms to ensure cleanliness, potential safety hazards, proper repair and seasonal maintenance.
- Remains available for any request(s) made by event personnel including use of phones, computers, faxes, copy machines, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION :
Requires a High School diploma or GED. Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in related field; such as, Recreation Management, HES, Public Health.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S) :
Current Adult CPR & Safety & First Aid certification required during the first initial 90 days.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / ABILITIES :
- One (1) year of experience in a related work setting required. Supervisory experience is preferred. Must have good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must have an eye for detail.
- Must be able to handle multi-tasks and demands, make on-the-spot decisions and be flexible to changes. Must be able to articulate instructions well.
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to motivate and organize staff.
- Works effectively both independently and in a team environment as the situation dictates. Must have the ability to effectively work with staff, administration, students, and parents from varying cultural backgrounds.
- Must have the ability to prioritize multi-tasks in the midst of a fast-paced, high-demand work environment while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Typical work hours are Monday-Friday from 3 : 00 pm to 12 : 00 am. Requires occasional daytime, weekend, and / or holiday work as the position is event-driven.
