We partner with our clients to evaluate, design, execute, and maximize growth opportunities in sourcing, diligence, operations / value creation, and exit.

Client work is primarily remote / virtual and includes : Financial Planning, Analysis, and Modeling, Valuations & Capital Raising, Financial, Commercial & Operational Due Diligence, Competitive Strategy, Buy-Side & Sell-Side Advisory, Mergers & Acquisitions, Fractional CFO & Executive (or Interim) Leadership, Operations Performance Improvement, Turnaround & Restructuring, Growth Strategy, Post-Merger Integration.

Role Overview :

  • Synergy Management Group (SMG) is seeking a dedicated Chief Operating Officer (COO) to manage recruiting, business development, operational oversight, growth strategy, new client acquisition and relations, process improvement, and ad hoc strategic initiatives.
  • This is a remote contract position, immediate start, 10am-6pm ET availability required, US-based, long-term potential.
  • Candidates should be highly experienced in comprehensively supporting C-level executives within this industry.
  • Qualified applicants must have 15+ years senior-level experience at top-tier firms within the management consulting, private equity, and / or venture capital industry (e.

g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, Blackstone, KKR, Carlyle, Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Accel).

Month 1 Evaluation Responsibilities :

In addition to the Ongoing Responsibilities listed below, the Month 1 Evaluation will focus on recruiting a senior sales executive and supporting their successful integration into the firm.

You will also be expected to identify and propose operational and strategic process improvements that will contribute to SMG’s efficiency and growth.

  • You will be provided with detailed instructions (templates, manuals, job descriptions, interview criteria, etc.), relevant tools / subscriptions, and CEO availability for final round interviews in order to achieve the following objective : (1) Recruit a senior sales executive (Managing Director or Partner level) from a top tier consulting firm, (2) Administratively, strategically and operationally support the newly hired sales executive, with guidance from the CEO of SMG, for the remainder of Month 1 to successfully close and receive cleared payment for one new client engagement (minimum of $50K contract).
  • After successfully achieving the above objective, we will structure a long-term engagement.

Ongoing Responsibilities (Month 1 and Onward) :

  • You will be provided with detailed, step-by-step instructions, templates & relevant tools / accounts / subscriptions to manage the below ongoing COO responsibilities :
  • Driving operational strategy, improving internal processes, overseeing cross-functional collaboration, handling logistics for the CEO, email / calendar management, task / workflow management, vendor management, meeting scheduling / coordination, screening and / or qualifying 3rd parties (prospective clients, vendors, new hire candidates, partners, etc.

with provided criteria, daily progress reports, daily Zoom phone / video check-in meetings, proofreading, administrative and strategic project management and coordination, LinkedIn outreach and social media management, recruiting, gatekeeper responsibilities, administrative / operational client coordination / management.

Compensation :

  • Hourly Rate, commensurate with experience (exclusively success-based compensation during the Month 1 Evaluation)

  • Success-based compensation for the Month 1 Evaluation is capped at 15% of the closed contract value (up to $7,500 on a $50K contract).

Relevant Experience :

  • Top-tier or boutique management consulting firms (e.g., McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company)
  • Top-tier or boutique private equity and / or venture capital funds (e.g., Blackstone, KKR, Carlyle, Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Accel)
  • Decision-maker with strong critical thinking skills and ability to make sound recommendations
  • Possesses high EQ
