Avionics Systems Engineer - Flight Deck

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Innovate, design, and test avionics products
- Architect product requirements and aircraft installations for safety and robustness
- Develop precise and effective system requirements and generate and execute validation and test plans to verify implementation
- Effectively design for and evaluate Human Factors considerations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams during design, development, test, and integration
- Develop product documentation contributing to the TSOA submittal to the FAA
- Estimate for new project demands by reviewing customer requirements, assessing against current products, and determining work effort needed
- Follow established development processes during the full product development life cycle
- Act as customer-facing subject matter expert for all technical communications and meetings
- Work directly with customers in support of their lab and aircraft testing, integration, and troubleshooting needs
- Consistently complete work assignments in accordance with program milestones
- Define and adapt requirements for simulated environment used for product testing
Required Skills :
- Proficient in fundamentals for Avionics Systems Engineering and architecture
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, i.e. TSOs, ACs, RTCA & SAE
- Knowledge of avionics hardware and software development and qualification processes, such as DO-160, DO-178, DO-254
- Ability to decompose customer requirements and translate into technical product requirements
- Ability to work independently and self-direct
- Strong problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to communication technical knowledge effectively across all levels of the organization
- Ability to effectively collaborate in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
- Ability to learn new technologies and expand skillset
- Ability to manage competing needs for assigned project
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, with Systems, Computer, or Electrical preferred
- Minimum 5 Years of experience
- Familiarity with Flight Deck Avionics and Flight Management Systems
Preferred Qualifications :
- Pilot experience preferred
- Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, Polarion (or similar) requirements capture tool
