As the supervisor of a hardworking and accomplished team of technicians, you will set technical direction, build team members to support current and future program needs, be responsible for employee life cycle including hiring, performance management, training, and providing tools for career development.

You will help to improve technical processes, best practices, and tool development around focused areas of launch vehicle fluids and pneumatic system assemblies.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) :

This is a C Shift position (Fri-Sun 06 : 00-18 : 30). Must be able to work flexible shifts as necessary.

  • Supervise GS1 Sub-Assemblies Technicians in day-to-day operations with an emphasis on Safety
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Support recruiting efforts (conducting technical screens / participating in panel interviews)
  • Responsible for establishing work assignments, employee training, overtime assignments and back-up for absent employees
  • Maintain and communicate work center schedule status to ensure the team is meeting customer expectations
  • Provide first level escalation support to employees regarding HR issues (employee relations, worker's compensation, disciplinary actions, timecards, PTO requests)
  • Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities and implement changes to improve processes, drive efficiencies, and reduce cycle and setup times
  • Maintain all work center programs. These programs include Safety, FOD, 5S, Lean, and Clean-as-you-Go practices
  • Ensure all team members accurately follow print requirements, work instructions, quality requirements, and processes
  • Ensure accurate technician staff data recording - namely clock-in / clock-out activities
  • Provide continued training and skills development for team members, and mentor early career team members
  • Ensure start-up readiness for production

Minimum Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • 7+ years of experience working in a product development, production manufacturing, or fabrication shop environment processing components to aerospace standards
  • Root cause and corrective action analysis experience
  • Understand the department KPI's metrics to improve performance
  • Strong communication skills with a heavy customer focus
  • Must have a continuous improvement mindset
  • Clear understanding of production versus development environments
  • Fluent in use of precision hand tools
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively - in writing, in person, and via video calls
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Work wherever, whenever - however best to help your team succeed. This will include extended hours and weekends, and all shifts when vital.

Occasional remote work and / or flexible schedule is available when possible.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Strong experience with fluids and pneumatic systems
  • 5S, Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen experience
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and coordination skills
  • Continuous improvement mentality. Our job is never complete; we are always refining and improving where possible
  • Curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it
  • Experience in new product introduction
  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Aerospace / Launch vehicles
