Summary : The VP, Mortgage Capital Markets is responsible for risk management of the mortgage pipeline, achieving optimal execution of selling loans in the secondary market, and owning the measurement presentation of results and forecasts to key stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Own mortgage pipeline risk management including, measuring risk, hedging risk with derivative instruments, developing and maintaining controls, and presenting risk management results to stakeholders.
- Own strategy and optimal execution of exiting mortgage loans in secondary markets.
- Enhance, develop, and maintain adherence to Mortgage Capital Markets controls to reduce risk associated with execution of all duties.
- Develop and maintain relationships with hedging and trading partners.
- Manage the mortgage pipeline risk management model (CompassPoint).
- Own and enhance daily and monthly P&L attribution of Mortgage Capital Markets results.
- Develop and maintain a standard financial reporting set across all Mortgage Capital Markets functions that inform stakeholders of optimal methods to execute the business models.
- Responsible for continually seeking and implementing efficiencies across all Mortgage Capital Markets businesses and recommending strategies to increase performance.
- Continuously evaluate methods for managing risk and mortgage execution for opportunities to improve.
- Negotiate trades and other transactions with broker-dealers and investors.
- Ensure proper MBS certification from FNMA, FHLMC and GNMA and ensure all transactions settle properly.
- Lead communications and processes across multiple departments to achieve Mortgage Capital Markets objectives.
- Responsible for contributions to Capital Markets related committees.
- Manage the team by hiring, coaching, training, and providing direction to team members through feedback to support personal development and goal accomplishment.

Education and / or Experience
- 5+ years of Mortgage Capital Markets experience.
- BS degree with an analytical emphasis preferred.
- Alternate analytical experience with proven results based on critical thinking and problem-solving will be considered.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong data analysis, modeling, and problem-solving skills.
- Execute all duties in a structured and objective manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate to various levels within the organization.
- Ability to be highly collaborative and detail-oriented with a focus on meeting timelines.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), SQL and Power BI preferred.
- Experience with CompassPoint preferred, or similar mortgage hedge advisory models.
- Experience with Bloomberg or Eikon.
- Experience with Encompass or similar LOS system preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior and confidentiality and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
