The Project Manager directs the company’s construction activities on heavy highway projects, as the senior on-site company representative, maintaining client and home office liaison and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations on a large complex project or several small projects.
Coordinates, plans and supervises field staff, subcontractors and craft activities for the entire project and or multiple projects.
Develops a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
Selects and coordinates work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project.
Oversees performance of all trade contractors and reviews architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed.
Is responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
Supervises assistant managers, reviews their reports, checks on any reported difficulties, and corrects any safety violations or other reported deficiencies.
Tracks and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated.
Reports to owners and architects about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated.
Required Skills and Experience
10+ years of leadership & experience as a Construction Manager on heavy / highway construction projects (Structures, Bridges, Underground, Earthwork and Concrete Paving)
Medium to Large project experience ($50M+) is required
Estimating experience involving heavy civil work
A proven track record of organizing work forces to accomplish project goals
Well-rounded base of knowledge in construction disciplines
Experience with highly technical and design-build projects is a plus
Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
