Job Description Summary

Our Commercial Agribusiness line allows us to provide insurance that protects Agribusiness operations with extraordinary care.
Through collaboration, we share our knowledge and expertise across Nationwide to enhance our lines of business and their market position.
As the VP, you will be responsible for all sales and underwriting activities within the Commercial Agribusiness line of business.
You’ll be responsible for developing and executing a strategy for the overall Sales organization within commercial Agribusiness.
In order to be successful, you’ll need to develop and maintain relationships with producing agents, sales representatives, agency partners and affinity groups in meeting Agribusiness efforts to write and retain profitable business.
You will have a primary focus to oversee the AVP’s role of profitable growth, quality underwriting decision making, portfolio, agency and countrywide distribution performance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Establishes and executes marketing strategies.
- Develop strategic underwriting plans and leads Commercial Agribusiness underwriting teams with a national scope. Responsible for strong communication of these goals to associates.
- Builds and executes Commercial Agribusiness strategy for profitable growth. Provides recommendations and influences staff underwriting, product and regional leadership on Commercial Agribusiness strategy.
- Setting premium growth goals and executing strategy to meet and exceed.
- Developing short and long-range business plans.
- Develops and maintains key internal and external relationships that are critical to developing products and writing and retaining profitable business.
- Leads and directs Sales AVPs to reach goals and ensures all initiatives, processes and goals receive proper direction to ensure objectives are met.
- Leads and directs Commercial Agribusiness Underwriting AVP to reach goals and ensures all initiatives, process and goals receive proper direction to ensure objectives are met.
- Oversee the new strategic underwriting plans.
- Maintain composition of designated book of business.
- Manage the plans and integrated sales programs to create sales opportunities.
- Foster and grow relationships with agency leaders to better drive business results.
- Drive business processes and product decisions based on the customer needs.
- Responsible for agency revenue and growth to meet company plans.
- Communicate policies, procedures and financial budgets to AVP of Commercial Agribusiness Underwriting.
- Provide direction into strategic plans to help identify operational opportunities.

Typical Skills And ExperiencesEducation :
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or other business-related degrees preferred.
License / Certification / Designation :
CPCU preferred.
Experience :
Ten or more years of experience in managing all aspects of sales and in the insurance industry preferred. Experience in developing short and long-range operating plans.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills :
Knowledge of commercial agribusiness products and operations of large commercial and Commercial Agribusiness sales operations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to maintain internal and external relationships with producing agents, sales representatives, and agency partners.
Good interpersonal skills. Experience leading commercial underwriting teams preferred.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
