Construction Safety Consulting Manager - Florida South Region

Job Summary :
This position is responsible for management and oversight of Construction Safety Operations in the Florida- Southeast Region, including direct supervision of field staff.
In addition, this role will have client interaction as well perform safety audits and safety consulting. The Construction Safety Consulting Manager - Florida Southeast Region is also expected to create and build client relationships and be in integral part of the development of GBTS’s safety services in the South Region.
This role develops and facilitates the proposal process for specific clients / prospective clients including budget and pricing development, proposal writing, contract negotiations and client presentations.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
The Construction Safety Consulting Manager will organize and oversee the operations of all Field Staff and lend expertise to the Finance, Estimating, and Business Development teams when necessary.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Participates as an essential part of the Management team working closely with Finance and Administration, Sales and Client Services representing all areas of Field and Technical Operations.
- Acts as the Client conduit for field operations and technical issues and requests.
- Manages and provides oversight of all field operations including superintendents and field level Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Professionals.
- Works with technical team, field staff, business development manager, finance team to develop job estimates, develop budgets and job milestones.
- Oversight and management of project resource allocation including assignment of manpower.
- Monitors all field work and assignments and work with the Management Team to verify they are completed on time and on budget.
- Develops and executes health and safety plans, (company-wide and site-specific) for clients and the company.
- Reinforces policies to establish a culture of health and safety and evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
- Oversees, and in some instances be available to conduct, site safety audits.
- Provides staff training specific to safety as well as ensuring proper policies and procedures are adhered to regarding incidents, accidents, and workmen’s compensation claims.
- Develops new business and follows up existing business opportunities.
- Develops and participates in client / prospect "outreach" activities, including attendance at trade shows, attendance at and / or presentation of seminars, participation in industry specific professional organizations, etc.
- Visits clients on jobsites to oversee the work being performed and discuss their needs on the current and future projects.
- Formulates standard / routine proposals in conjunction with team members and various functional groups.
- Develops a budget and price estimate using standard models.
- Develops project plans, defining roles and responsibilities and the scope of work for each project with input from clients / prospects, project leaders and functional groups.
- Drafts the narrative that ties the project components together and package and assist in presenting the proposal to the client / prospect.
- Communicates back to internal groups the outcome of the negotiations / proposals focusing on conveying the expectations set forth for each group, i.
e. clear details, critical timeframes and expectations.
- If needed, assists in recruiting technical and safety staff to provide services to clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities :
- Able to successfully manage teams and individuals.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to effectively delegate responsibilities to team supervisors and managers.
- Able to effectively maintain and expand client relationships.
- Able to effectively operate the full suite of Microsoft software and use these tools to aid in the success of this role.
Education and Experience :
- 10 years of experience in construction or construction safety.
- HS diploma or equivalency, at least 10 years of construction experience, with 3 years of managing people.
Physical Requirements :
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visit and navigate job sites for prolonged periods.
Preferred location in Miami or West Palm Beach areas. The successful candidate will be familiar with, and be able to penetrate, this market.
