Shipbuilding Piping Supervisor Job Summary
We are seeking a Shipbuilding Piping Supervisor to oversee the installation, modification, and repair of piping systems on various vessels.
You will be responsible for managing a team of pipefitters and welders, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.
This role requires a strong technical background in shipbuilding, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate with other departments to meet project deadlines.
Shipbuilding Piping Supervisor Responsibilities
- Review and interpret piping design drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to ensure proper execution of work.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of pipefitters and welders, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure that all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards, conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of piping systems with other ship components.
- Monitor and control project budgets and schedules, identifying and addressing any issues that may impact timelines or costs.
- Conduct inspections of installed piping systems to ensure quality and compliance with engineering specifications.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to work performed, including reports, work orders, and daily logs.
- Assist in the procurement of materials and supplies necessary for piping projects, ensuring timely delivery and proper inventory management.
Shipbuilding Piping Supervisor Position Requirements
- 10+ years’ work history in fabricating and installing various piping systems in a field environment.
- Must be able to interpret PI&Ds, construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, etc.
- Well versed in ASME B31.1.
- Able to field sketch as needed to bring information back to shop for fabrication.
- Well versed with Microsoft Office, Excel (Alto Cad is a plus).
- OSHA / 10 safety training required provided by the company, (having an up-to-date OSHA / 10 is a plus).
