Job Title : Coalition Coordinator (Grant-Funded)
HOURS : In-Person, Full Time (40 hours, some weekends and evenings)
General Description :
The Coalition Coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Coalition Director, staff, and community partners.
This role involves assisting in the implementation of a strategic action plan to prevent and reduce substance use in the Fort Bend County community.
The coordinator will engage with numerous external partners to effect community-level change and must obtain a Certified Prevention Specialist designation within 18 months of hire.
Job Duties and Responsibilities :
- Advocate for policy changes and support legislative efforts related to substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion.
- Assist in planning, facilitating, and following up on monthly coalition meetings, youth coalition meetings, and other coalition functions
as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders and partners
- Organize and facilitate focus groups and community forums to gather input and feedback.
- Deliver behavioral health presentations in schools and the community.
- Support the implementation of evidence-based sustainable environmental strategies.
- Participate in community-wide prevention events.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on coalition activities and outcomes as required by the grants and the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in public health or a related field.
- Experience working with youth and adults in school and / or community settings
- Experience coordinating community outreach and / or events helpful
- Substance abuse prevention knowledge a plus
- Familiarity with substance abuse prevention frameworks and evidence-based prevention strategies (e.g., Strategic Prevention
Framework, Environmental Prevention Strategies).
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build effective relationships with
stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to appropriately represent the coalition in the community and in collaboration with other professionals.
