Overview
Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for providing technical support of pharmacy services, including but not limited to, distributing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, completing compliance audits and financial transactions, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records.
Performs pharmacy-related duties in compliance with department policies and procedures and state / federal law and regulation and arranges sequence and timing of work to meet normal and viable work requirements.
Pharmacy Technician I works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy / Pharmacy Manager or their designee.
What you will do
- Provides technical support of pharmacy services including receiving and confirming prescriptions, preparing and dispensing prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and maintaining pharmacy records.
- Performs inventory control. Ensures proper storage and stocks inventory.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice and workflows to provide quality patient care and meet safety standards.
Successfully completes annual state and facility requirements for mandatory competencies within required time frames.
Interacts with customers and peers utilizing excellent customer service skills. Answers questions and owns issues to completion.
Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Utilizes Riverside Care Difference principles in performance of duties.
- Properly measures and mixes medications. Prints labels and ensures safe dispensing.
- Completes compliance audits and financial transactions. Assists management with inspections, audits, reports, and training to ensure compliance and quality.
Understands and maintains compliance with facility, DNV, State, and HIPPA requirements.
Qualifications
Education
Program Graduate, Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience
Less than 1 year Prior Pharmacy Technician experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Pharmacy Technician - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) PTCB or ExCPT Certification within 1 Year(Required)
