Responsibilities
- Locations : Oversee QA systems at two facilities (western NE and southern Wyoming) and Nebraska shipping terminals.
- Compliance : Ensure smooth functioning of food safety and quality management systems.
- Standards : Maintain company standards and product integrity.
- Improvement : Recommend improvements for storage, packaging, and shipping controls.
- Policy Development : Assist in developing and maintaining quality and sanitation procedures with Corporate Quality.
- Support : Act as an information source for all departments on quality issues.
Reporting
Reports to the Corporate Quality Manager and Facility Warehouse Manager.
Essential Functions
- Ensure compliance with all product and food standards (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GFSI, BRCGS).
- Support and enforce company quality policies and procedures.
- Promote a strong quality culture.
- Resolve quality issues at refineries, terminals, and other areas as needed.
- Address product nonconformance, audit findings, and HACCP deviations.
- Ensure compliance of monitoring and production equipment with certifications and requirements.
- Conduct investigative analysis and determine corrective actions for complaints and non-conformances.
- Provide regular quality training for employees.
- Update food safety and food defense plans as required.
- Perform internal audits, traceability exercises, and mock recalls.
- Achieve corporate quality targets and reduce customer complaints.
- Hold monthly quality meetings for plant management updates.
- Supervise and schedule sanitation staff to meet standards.
- Maintain clean facilities in collaboration with the Factory and Warehouse Managers.
Skills & Experience
- Education : Bachelors or associate degree in food science or related field preferred.
- Experience : 2-3 years in Food Safety or Quality Assurance in the food industry.
- Expertise : Knowledge of food safety, food security, HACCP, and standard lab methods.
- Audits : Experience with regulatory and GFSI audits.
- Tech Skills : Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, LIMS / WIMS, SAP.
- Time Management : Effective time management and priority-setting skills.
- Interpersonal Skills : Professional demeanor and high level of interpersonal skills.
- Problem Solving : Solution-oriented and collaborative team player.
- Independence : Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certifications : HACCP, PCQI, and Food Defense certified (or willing to obtain).
- Organization : Highly organized and capable of handling pressure and deadlines.
