About the Position

The Mgr Regional Trans. is the third level of management and is responsible for the operations of multiple Kenco Transportation Services locations.

The Mgr Regional Trans. is also responsible for managing the discipline of drivers, ensuring compliance with Safety training, and managing customer relations.

Functions

  • The Mgr Regional Trans. oversees a location where their job sits and additional location operations, sets appointments with customers, manages staffing, and is responsible for the overall safety of their site.
  • The Mgr Regional Trans. has 4-6 direct reports non-exempt and exempt employees and is responsible for hiring and firing for drivers, supervisors, and managers.
  • The Mgr Regional Trans. is responsible for the budget of their site and of any sites that roll up to them. Budget is approximately $8M to $10M.
  • Prepare monthly invoice data.
  • Present to customer during Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)
  • Pull information for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting.
  • Managers are expected to proactively communicate with customers and drivers on issues and delays.
  • Manage facility for KTS at the site.
  • Supervise and refine dispatching operations by improving efficiency in routing and on-time delivery.
  • Conduct all hiring and interviewing of drivers.
  • Coordinate necessary repairs of fleet equipment to maintain operations.
  • Order supplies and equipment and issue them to personnel.
  • Approve all invoices for purchasing, services, and office equipment.
  • Back up delivery specialists when necessary.
  • Assist in customer deliveries when necessary.
  • Maintain list of fleet and company assets.
  • Perform any other reasonable request as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, or related field required or equivalent years of experience required. Equivalent years of experience is defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation or related training required.
  • Minimum 5 of years of leadership and / or supervisory / managerial experience required.
  • Understanding of budgeting and profit and loss statements preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Be organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to foster a teamwork environment.
  • Ability to work with and maintain effective working relationships with managers and direct reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and Transportation Management System applications (For example : TMW, Mercury Gate, McLeod, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups or customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Travel Requirements

  • This position is expected to travel approximately 25% or less.
  • A passport is not required, but recommended.
