Each ASL Facilitator will have set hours that will be posted for students to be able to schedule appointments. The department has a calendar / scheduling system for appointments.
Should there be no appointments scheduled, facilitators will have other duties as assigned by the lab supervisor such as :
Back up digitize curriculum on pdf on the ASL server.
Digitize DVD materials in the IPP library.
Catalog and label materials for ASL.
Attend ASL Linguistics for upgrading of knowledge.
Visit specific classes for clarification on working with students and faculty.
Develop reports for faculty for grading purposes.
Deaf Studies Unit meetings and training is paid time.
Required Qualifications :
Native users of ASL.
Some interactive experience working with students.
Demonstrated basic knowledge of ASL grammar.
Preferred Qualification
AA degree
Experience with Signing Naturally curriculum.
Salary Range
$10.50- $16.00 Hourly
Based on experience and education.
This position is titled ASL Facilitator and works with students on an individual basis. Students are required to have Experiential Learning hours and working with the ASL Facilitator is accepted for this requirement.
The goal is to give the students an opportunity to use ASL in a native, natural like manner rather than in a classroom setting.
