Quality Assurance Technician

Department : Quality Assurance

Status : Non-Exempt

Employee Classification : Regular Full-time

Reports To : Quality Assurance Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities : None

Shift : Saturday through Tuesday, 3 : 45pm to 3 : 00am

Job Summary : Responsible for performing Quality Assurance testing and ensure Food Safety and Quality in Ever Fresh Fruit Products, Raw Materials, Packaging, Equipment, Facility, etc.

Essential Functions :

  • Create accurate records, all conducted according to established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining GMPs throughout the facility both within the QA department and all other departments.
  • Assist with Pre-operational inspections
  • Provide Production support
  • Monitor and adhere to HACCP plans, reporting and performing corrective action when necessary
  • Perform Product Quality testing (brix, pH, pressure, USDA grades, etc.)
  • Perform Product documentation control, scanning and filing
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Ability to compute ratio and percent.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Working Conditions / Physical Factors :

  • Exposure to wet and / or humid conditions.
  • Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment.
  • Worker may be exposed to hazards in the workplace such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current
  • Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.)
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasionally required to use hands and fingers
  • Frequently required to talk or hear
  • Frequently required to taste and smell
  • Frequently required to lift / push / pull / carry weight up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include : close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles
