Job Description

Join the Navy Nuclear Laboratory team as an Engineer at the Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) located on the Idaho National Laboratory (INL).

The new Shipping Containers Conversion Engineering Unit has an opportunity for an experienced engineer! You will be part of a team that will be engineering the process and equipment to replace the internals of M-140 shipping containers.

You will be interfacing with groups such as other engineering units throughout NNL, operations personnel, project management personnel, and shipyard personnel.

The primary responsibilities are to develop the engineering controls (radiological, environmental, safety and industrial hygiene), new equipment, and work procedures necessary to complete the project.

This may include project specific radiological support equipment, and decontamination activities. Provide engineering support during project execution to ensure compliance with engineered work products, including any updates or changes needed for work execution procedures.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience;
  • or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience;

or Currently or previously NPE qualified; or CTE / ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.

  • Experience in writing work procedures.
  • Experience with a product line at the Naval Reactors Facility.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge Project Management Principals.
  • Eagerness to be trained to learn new skills as needed.
  • Past or present Engineer of Environment Work Qualification.
  • Past or present Engineer of Environment Work Qualification.

Pay Range

$83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually
