Position Information
The Department of Engineering and Aviation Sciences at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is currently accepting resumes for Adjunct faculty positions in the area of Engineering with specializations in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Candidates with expertise in the area of Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering are particularly encouraged to apply.
Resumes will be reviewed as needed for each semester. Responsibilities
- Develop and teach advanced courses and laboratories in engineering, including, but not limit to, statics, dynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, etc.
- Based on the needs of the Department, other courses may also be assigned depending upon candidates’ area of specialization.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Classification 25- Education, Training, and Library Occupations Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Candidates with expertise in the area of Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering are needed in particular due to the immediate needs of the department.
- Must have computer and critical thinking abilities, and excellent presentation skills.
- A commitment of undergraduate teaching and student advisement as well as participation in scholarly activity at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree in the specialization engineering areas.

- Strong communication to include written communication.
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty and staff in the Department and University and with students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
