The Senior Event Planner will produce internal and external Virginia Housing events from conception through to completion.

Responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service and organizing memorable events that meet quality expectations for our internal associates and external partners.

This role will also be responsible for vendor management and negotiation as it pertains to branded products and event vendors.

Hiring Range : $68,188 $88,644

A driving record and background check will be performed as a condition of employment.

To be successful in this role you must possess :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management or equivalent, relevant work experience.
  • Several years (5+ preferred) years of experience in event planning.
  • Experience managing small scale (10-50 people) to large scale (500+ people) events to include best practices in event management.
  • Ability to oversee collaborative event planning for the venue, food and beverage, travel, logistics, insurance, A / V, registration, invoicing, billing, and other areas.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be self-directed and detail oriented.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Comfortable embracing new technologies and digital tools.
  • Active membership in a related professional organization such as International Society of Meeting Planners or comparable.
  • Portfolio of photos, mood boards and / or concepts to show the caliber of events planned.
  • This position requires incumbents to drive for Virginia Housing business purposes. Therefore, incumbents must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and adhere to the standards set forth in the motor vehicle related administrative regulations and Human Resources policies as a condition of continued employment.

The ideal candidate would also have :

  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Certification preferred.
  • Cvent Certification for Event Management preferred.
