Janitor Job Description

Essential Responsibilities :

• Remove trash and waste from facility
• Sweep, Mop, wax and clean plant as assigned.
• Operate a floor scrubber
• Clean outside drains
• Maintain cleaning supplies in janitor storage.
• Move material as needed.
• Maintain recycle bins.
• Drive fork lift to load cardboard bales.

Qualifications / Requirements :

High School diploma / GED

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds non-repetitively and on rare occasions over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Must conform to all EHS guidelines, including, but not limited to, wearing required PPE
• Ability to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa).
• Ability to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)).

Desired Characteristics :

• Previous janitorial experience
• History of meeting or exceeding job requirements
• Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems; dealing with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.

Makes decisions based on experience and available data

• Ability to read and understand safety rules in the use and maintenance of shop equipment as well as related technical material and apply principles to daily operations.
• Commitment to excellent safety habits
• Excellent attendance and punctuality history
• Positive attitude and ambition to excel / advance in skills and knowledge
• History of accepting and giving constructive criticism
