Job Summary :
The Social Work & Sociology department in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Coordinator of Field Education and Professional Lecturer of Social Work for our BSW program.
This position will be responsible for securing all field practicum experiences, monitoring students' experiences, supervising field liaisons, and teaching.
The expected course load is 24-credits per academic year, with a 25% course release for administrative responsibilities.
We seek dynamic faculty who model the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for ethical practice.
We are excited to announce the opening this fall (2024) of the fully renovated Dyson building which will include a counseling / therapy suite with state-of-the-art technological capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Masters in Social Work (MSW)
- Teaching at the BSW or MSW level
- Prior experience teaching in a fully online format
Essential Functions :
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to contribute to a diverse learning environment and to facilitate student learning on anti-racist and anti-oppressive social work practice.
In summary, essential duties include :
- Recruitment of agency field practicum sites
- Recruitment and supervision of field liaisons
- Placing students at local sites
- Regular monitoring of both agency and student experiences
- Comply with CSWE assessment requirements
- Competence in the use of instructional technology
- Teaching responsibilities include : the field education seminars, the junior preparation for practice course, and other courses as needed.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Prior experience securing field practicum sites.
- Expertise in managing courses and tracking data using contemporary software and learning management systems.
- Doctoral degree in Social Work or Sociology

About the Department / School :
The Social Work & Sociology department is one of four departments in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The other departments are Psychology, Crime and Justice Studies, and Teacher Education.
The School also has graduate programs as follows : MA School Psychology; MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Masters of Arts in Teaching;
and MS in Education, Contemporary Curriculum and Instruction.
The Social Work & Sociology department in collaboration with the Crime & Justice Studies department recently launched a dual major in Social Work and Crime & Justice Studies.
The Social Work Program is also in the process of creating an online MSW program.
The Social Work & Sociology Department and the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences are committed to advancing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment.
