POSITION SUMMARY
The Library and Information Services Manager is responsible for library operations, program design for information literacy and research, technological innovation, and physical and digital offerings.
This position is charged with maintaining and growing the collections of the library; as well as developing and executing strategies for positioning the Culinary Institute of America as a major resource center for information centered on the culinary world.
The Library and Information Services Manager will be responsible for managing the library operations, providing research services to faculty and students, and facilitating assessment of information literacy.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the library operations at the Hyde Park campus and provides oversight of the San Antonio and Greystone branch campuses.
- Oversees the management and assessment of library collections and coordinates all library services, including customer satisfaction assessment and analysis, policy recommendations, development of procedures, provision of access and reference services, and strategies to assess and ensure patron satisfaction.
- Leads the implementation of innovative approaches to Library Science of both a technological and practical nature.
- Keeps abreast of technological changes; ensures efficient use of equipment and resources through communication and training.
- Manages a high-performance library staff and works to support a multidisciplinary team and respond to business needs. Plans and administers staff development and training.
- Oversees the information literacy program developed in conjunction with the Research Librarian. Develops assessment plans for information literacy.
- Coordinates with faculty, students, staff, and the surrounding community to support research and information services.
- Develops Library Guides to support academic leaders in integrating information literacy into and across the curriculum in support of the teaching and learning goals and objectives of the college.
- Assists the Dean for Academic Engagement and Administration with the library budget.
- Organizes the student worker schedule and provides coverage for library hours.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Master of Library Science degree from an accredited college.
Experience :
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in library administration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in postsecondary library administration.

- Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and skills required. Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Must have a proven, consistent track record showing the ability to work with all levels within an organization.
- Detail oriented and thorough.
- Strong computer experience, which must include abilities to work effectively with MS Office suite products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
- Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
- Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
- Ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds (such as file boxes, binders, etc.).
