As the Outreach Coordinator, you’ll play a pivotal role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for our students.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with the Director of Project Rebound to identify, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative programs.
  • Focus on justice-involved student outreach, academic success, leadership development, and overall student enrichment.
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor to students, providing guidance and encouragement.
  • Work closely with interns and student assistants to design and deliver impactful programs.
  • Be a resource for sensitive equity-related issues, crisis situations, and individualized student concerns.
  • Foster an environment of empathy and understanding.
  • Assist in organizing center programs and events.
  • Contribute to the smooth functioning of Project Rebound operations.

Position Information

  • Full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on June 30, 2025 with the possibility of reappointment.
  • Position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.

Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Possession of the required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field;

experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

Key Qualifications

  • B.A. in Behavioral and Social Science related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with incarcerated and / or formerly incarcerated people; personal lived experience notably recognized.
  • Ability to understand and navigate a dynamic campus culture.
  • Knowledge and experience working with varied and diverse populations of students.
  • Competency in cross-cultural communication and dialogue practices.
  • Experience in student advising.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, with advance notice.
  • Ability to facilitate difficult dialogues, effectively listen to all points of view and build consensus.
  • Demonstrated success working on teams and supporting colleagues on collaborative initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,841 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation.

CSU Classification Salary Range : $4,841 - $6,884 per month.
