Job Summary
The Medical Secretary / Transcriptionist provides support to the Pathology department, including answering telephones, typing / faxing pathology reports and other correspondence, preparing samples for send out testing, reviewing pathology charges, screening visitors and making appointments.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
Education
High School diploma or GED. Additional education from an accredited college or university strongly preferred.
Experience
Minimum of one-year medical experience preferred.
Additional Skills / Abilities
Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in the identification and reporting of number and names.
Must be proficient in use of computer and word processing skills. Must be able to type 50-60 words per minute and be able to type from a dictation.
