We are currently hiring a Engineering Technician to work in our Milwaukee, WI location. This position is best suited for an organized, responsible, and detail-oriented individual who is looking for a career within a well-established company.

WHAT DOES THIS POSITION DO?

This position provides engineering, design and drafting for residential and light commercial HVAC systems.

The successful candidate for this position will be performing a variety of HVAC design related activities. This may include HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, system design, preparation of drawings and calculations for submittal to state plan review agencies, review of systems, design and selections with customers and clients, or with other Auer Steel personnel.

Essential Functions :

  • Prepare accurate HVAC systems load calculations using Auer Steel software
  • Prepare plans and calculations that are to be submitted to the State of Wisconsin for HVAC plan review and approval
  • Stay current with applicable building and mechanical codes
  • Interact with potential and current customers, Auer Steel employees, State of WI, and sales personnel to address design concerns
  • Perform job site visits for trouble shooting and sizing as needed
  • Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, positive, team-oriented attitude with and between departments and end users
  • Ensure timely, accurate, proper records, files, data bases, etc. are developed and maintained for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT IS REQUIRED?

Prefer an Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. Previous design experience in HVAC engineering systems design is a plus.

Previous Auto CAD or similar CAD program experience is a plus.

  • Requires a WI Designer Stamp or the ability to achieve one within 5 years after hire.
  • Must possess excellent mechanical aptitude and mathematical abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organization, customer relations, problem solving and good follow-through skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
