We connect traveling consumers to duty-free retailers, products, and brands via an app and web platform, which allows them to shop duty-free online once their flight is booked and access exclusive prices and promotions.

Travelers can also choose their preferred order collection or delivery method ranging from airport pick up in-store, at the gate, in the lounge, or from a smart locker, and now they can even have it delivered to an address in the US with more countries to follow.

Purpose of the role

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will work across all of our e-commerce platforms (apps, web, automated retail channels, PIM) where you will have the opportunity to create an immediate positive impact and continuously improve the shopping experience of global travelers.

You will be responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining high-quality backend code to better onboard vendors, better manage content, and facilitate the evolution of the platform.

You will also be heavily involved in our product roadmap to bring to life our future vision with new functionality (marketplace, retail technologies, PIM & database back-office, etc.).

You have significant experience in developing solid backend services and APIs. You also understand web / mobile platform constraints , data security, and pay as much attention to the quality of the code as to the delivery of an excellent user experience.

Key Responsibilities

• You will develop , deploy and maintain backend services, n ew web features and implement the associated back-end functionality as appropriate
• You will work closely with cross-functional colleagues, project managers, and other developers to ensure that your tasks and projects meet the requirements and are delivered on time
• You will collaborate efficiently with product and design team and be responsible for delivering the front end following their direction and instruction
• Make recommendations on the best technical solutions based on the brief
• Develop bug fixes in a timely manner to ensure our platforms are of the highest quality
• Be the guardian of scalability for all that you work on - a ny new feature you add must have a back-end and database architecture that can support a large number of users

Knowledge, skills, and experience required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Proven experience of PHP 7 & 8, Symfony 5 & 6 (at least 5 years)
• Track record of HTML, CSS, or any other front-end web technology
• Strong ability to write clean & modular code + code refactoring & code abstraction
• Proven experience with REST APIs
• An excellent track record of success in delivering solutions for complex technical requirements in both back-end and front-end development
• Experience working with e-commerce platforms and in retail environments is a plus
• Strong ability to work in a startup and agile environment (Scrum)
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong collaboration experience across departments
• Excellent communication skills
