Department : Anatomic Pathology G&A - 381
Primary Purpose :
The AP Administrative Specialist works under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor of AP G&A, and floats between various job duties within the department as dictated by daily workflow or when training or supplemental staffing is needed.
Duties include administrative assistant tasks, contributing to medical reports for respective Surgical Pathology and Hematopathology offices, and outside consultation processing.
Attention to detail is critical.

Essential Functions :
Meets productivity, competency and quality standards as defined by departmental procedures. Assists others in areas of defined competency when daily assigned workload is complete.
Demonstrates familiarity with departmental procedures, including troubleshooting common issues.
Accurately triages, routes, stores, and files slides, including preparation and organization of slides for weekly treatment planning conferences.
Contributes to respective Surgical Pathology and Hematopathology reporting accurately and performs selected laboratory tests.
Processes requests for simple add-on testing in AP Module of Millennium.
Initiates and follows through on intradepartmental issues.
Professional communication with external clients, including processing of requests for additional materials.
Processes consultation materials proficiently, including accessioning, evaluating medical information from reports, service triaging, slide storage and send back of materials.
Digital scanning of glass slides and data entry of demographic information.
Evaluates daily workload to determine priority of tasks and workflow.
Interacts well with fellow staff members and faculty to help promote good working relationships.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Other Requirements :
Stooping : Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching : Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility : The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate : Frequently and effectively communicate with others.
PPE : Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures : To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Sedentary Work : Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Fine Motor Control : Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
Vision : Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
