Overview
The Supervisor of Electronic Systems is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and management of the data center.
This role ensures the security, reliability, and efficiency of the data center infrastructure, including server maintenance and management, to support business operations.
Will work closely with other IT professionals to maintain optimal performance and address any issues that arise, with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity measures to protect the organization’s data and infrastructure.
Occasional inter-state travel required.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities :
Data Center Operations :
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure of the Operational Technologies (OT) network.
- Ensure the data center operates at peak efficiency, including environmental controls, power distribution, and data connectivity.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
Server Maintenance and Management :
- Manage the lifecycle of all server hardware and software, including procurement, installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Implement and maintain server virtualization technologies and strategies to optimize server utilization and performance.
- Ensure timely updates and patches for server operating systems and applications to maintain security and functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.
Maintenance and Upgrades :
- Schedule and oversee regular maintenance activities to ensure systems are operating optimally.
- Plan and manage upgrades and new installations to ensure the latest technology and best practices are implemented.
- Maintain inventory of data center equipment and manage procurement of new hardware and software.
Security and Compliance :
- Ensure the physical and digital security of the data center, including access controls, monitoring, and cybersecurity defenses.
- Enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures to protect data and infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk assessments.
Cybersecurity Measures :
- Monitor cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities and take proactive measures to mitigate risks.
- Coordinate incident response efforts in the event of a security breach or cyber-attack.
- Collaborate with the IT security team to ensure alignment with overall cybersecurity strategy and practices.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting :
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Implement monitoring tools and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present regular reports on data center performance, incidents, cybersecurity threats, and improvements.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity :
- Test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Ensure that backup and recovery processes are robust and regularly tested.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure minimal disruption during disaster recovery operations.
Qualifications
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Experience : Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data center operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role. Experience in server maintenance and management, as well as cybersecurity, is highly desirable.
Technical Skills : Proficiency in data center infrastructure management, network and server administration, server virtualization technologies, data storage solutions, and cybersecurity tools and practices.
Good working knowledge of VMWare, Storage management, and Windows Server administration.
Certifications : Relevant certifications such as Data Center Management Professional (DCMP), Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar are preferred.
Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Soft Skills : Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and project management skills.
Other Requirements : Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Availability for on-call duty and emergency response.
Work Environment :
Physical Requirements : Ability to lift and move data center equipment, as necessary. The role may require prolonged periods of standing and working in confined spaces.
Schedule : Full-time position, with potential for after-hours or weekend work to address emergencies or conduct maintenance.
