Description of Job

The Enrollment Data Strategist position is a .6 FTE administrative professional position responsible for analyzing enrollment-related data to provide data-driven advice to support strategic decision-making for the EMES team and senior leadership.

This includes identifying enrollment trends, both for new and continuing students, identifying barriers to enrollment, and providing regular updates to guide enrollment-related strategies through multiple outlets, including personal, online and marketing engagement, and policy and process changes.

This position collaborates closely with Enrollment Management leadership to optimize enrollment strategies and enhance the overall student enrollment experience.

While this position works closely with enrollment management leadership, the position is also responsible for self-directed research.

The Strategist gathers data and conducts analyses of both student and monetary data to vet new strategies and evaluate the success of key initiatives through rigorous data analysis.

Gathers data to compile reports related to operational effectiveness, scholarship programs, and other enrollment initiatives.

Examples include, but are not limited to calculating enrollment, retention, and persistence rates; reviewing initiatives for equity;

benchmarking; tuition ROI analyses; and evaluation of tuition revenues. Provides analyses and reports to internal and external stakeholders and presents to senior leadership as needed.

Provides visuals for both reports and presentations that explain the data easily. Supports EMES team by providing direction for data collection best practices.

Primary Duties

Analyze enrollment trends and data to identify opportunities for growth and optimization.

Gather and query data and conduct analyses to both vet new strategies and evaluate the success of key initiatives. Gather data to compile reports related to operational effectiveness, scholarship programs, and other enrollment initiatives.

Assist in supplying data to external partners, including Hanover Research. Provide analysis and reports to internal and external stakeholders.

Present enrollment analytics and strategies to senior leadership, effectively communicating the potential impact on the institution.

Provide clear visualization of data through charts, graphs, reports, etc., and present findings in a clear and concise manner that can be easily understood by stakeholders less familiar with the data.

Monitor and track enrollment metrics and performance to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven recommendations.

Lead efforts to provide insight and advice to aid team members in determining the best types of data and collection methods to use, both for existing and new initiatives.

Assist in research of overall industry trends and qualitative / quantitative competitive analysis.

Provide backup support for operational SIS (Banner) reports and queries. Provide backup for general Banner functions in the absence of Banner Support Specialist.

Ancillary Duties :

Other duties as assigned, including serving as a representative of the University as needed at events and on committees

Salary Range

$37,000 - $50,000 for this benefits-eligible, .6FTE position

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, computer science, computer information systems, math, statistics, or a closely related program
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Willing and able to work a limited number of evening and weekend events
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in data management, analysis, forecasting
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational databases
  • Experience using SQL, advanced level MS Access, or visual programming
  • Experience with, or commitment to, working with diverse populations

Experience in positions or activities that required :

  • excellent presentation and data visualization skills
  • excellent customer service skills
  • excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Data Analytics or related program
  • Data Analytics or Data Certificate, including experience with data visualization software
  • Knowledge of the higher education landscape, especially as it relates to Enrollment Management
  • 10+ years in data management, forecasting and data analysis or similar position
  • Experience with reporting tools or similar technology (WebFOCUS, IBM Cognos, Power BI, etc.)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (such as Tableau or Power BI)
  • Experience working with Ellucian Banner
  • Experience working with Technolutions Slate
