The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $89,144 - $147,088.

Location and Schedule

  • This on-site position is based out of Denver International Airport
  • Monday to Friday, 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm
  • Denver International Airport is a 24 / 7 / 365 team operation. If staffing challenges arise, weather conditions warrant, or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and / or alternative shifts (includes nights, weekends, and holidays)
  • Schedules are subject to change

What You’ll Do

  • Performs project management work by managing, coordinating, and directing development, redevelopment, and capital improvement projects for a department including project coordination with city departments, affected community and business organizations, and / or other stakeholders.
  • Confers with management in order to maintain established project plans and goals, scope of work, and project work plans, including time frames, funding limitations, contract costs, risk factors, and allotment of available resources to various phases of a project.
  • Reviews projects for code and standards compliance, monitors the progress and quality of a project and resolves problems and project barriers by identifying strategies and approaches to overcome barriers.
  • Tracks schedules, work plans, and cost estimates / projections and monitors projects for conformance to approved plans and contract specifications.
  • Assists or participates in preparing pre-bid materials defining the scope of work and related information necessary for request for qualifications (RFQ) and request for proposals (RFP) and responding to questions concerning the project and / or contract(s).
  • Prepares and communicates project status reports for key stakeholders and provides updates on project activities and information on risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitors the budget for project planning, design, regulatory, and / or construction phases and ensures project deliverables stay on time, on target, and on budget.
  • Interacts with utility companies, city agencies / departments, and other governmental agencies to obtain necessary permits and clearances and to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • By position, matrix manages and / or coordinates the work of consultants and / or related personnel who have been assigned responsibility for various projects and / or portions of a project and defines and manages the overall change control processes and quality assurance aspects of the project to ensure project success.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Any one position may not include all of the duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent in performing the essential duties listed above.

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics :

  • Three (3) or more years of experience with Aviation, Maintenance, or Facilities-type projects within critical operation similar to DEN
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and coordination related to the development and management of projects
  • Demonstrated capability to be adaptable and flexible with the ability to balance multiple projects / priorities simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement : Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience Requirement : Two (2) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including coordinating, administering, and monitoring projects.
  • Education / Experience Equivalency : One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • License / Certifications : By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.

FBI Background Check

FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and / or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment.

By position, a pre-employment physical / drug test may be required.
