Overview :
The DOT Safety / Compliance Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the company's operational fleet drivers and vehicles adhere to company policies, State, and Federal regulations, and maintains compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee and manage all aspects of DOT compliance, including driver qualification, drug & alcohol programs, inspections, and audits.
- Monitor fleet safety programs to ensure adherence to FMCSA regulations.
- Conduct accident investigation, prevention, and root cause analysis to minimize risk and improve safety outcomes.
- Administer the DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Review data from various programs such as FMCSA, Samsara, Tenstreet, and Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) to identify trends and provide recommendations for improving safety.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor hours of service for violations and conduct corrective action training as well as write ups.
- Review harsh brake and other ELD recorded events and assign corrective action / training
- Oversee the compliance of Driver Qualification files.
- Review / assist with the onboarding of new hired drivers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of verifiable experience in Safety and Compliance role in DOT regulated transportation company.
- Knowledge of DOT, FMSCA Rules and Regulations.
- Substantial computer skills are a MUST to include : MS Office, Samsara, and Tenstreet.
- Bilingual Spanish / English required.
