QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies.

The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.

Job Summary

QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for software development in the Java language and for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development testing operational integration and user support.

This is an on-site position.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following :

• Responsible for software development using Java
• Design, code, test and implement tools for automation
• Maintain, debug, and configure related software products
• Work from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications
• Assist with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
• Work on most phases of software systems programming applications
• Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve the overall efficiency of the operating system

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field from an accredited college with at least 5 years of experience
• Security+ certification or equivalent required within 60 days of start

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Software engineering and software development with Java / JEE experience
• Experience and knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards and configuration management
• Experience developing enterprise applications
• Familiarity with Java foundation classes and toolkits
• Knowledge of server side / database development and computer system administration
• Experience working as part of an Agile team
• Use of common software development and management tools such as gitLab, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven or Gradle, and Eclipse
• Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
• Applicant should have good working knowledge of MS Office products
• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root cause, recommend and develop a solution
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
• Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasking
• Command and control system application development
• Automated test and pipeline development experience
• Test driven development
• Experience developing software for Unix / Linux and Windows platforms
• Experience with Software Integration testing including developing automated test scrips
• Experience with Risk Management Framework / STIG / Fortify / SonarQube mitigation
• Strong problem-solving skills including reviewing performance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending and developing solutions

Security Clearance

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.

Salary Range

$82,000 - $161,000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
