Position Summary Information
Under direct supervision, the HVAC technician III will execute scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective maintenance activities to the university HVAC systems, including all ancillary equipment.
Respond to Workorder requests.
Responsibilities
- Execute Preventive Maintenance program of campus mechanical systems as primarily defined by department PM program, including site inspections, equipment adjustments, filter replacement, condenser cleaning, benchmarking of various parameters, etc.
- Respond to Workorder requests.
- Maintain equipment rooms in a clean & orderly manner.
- Assist HVAC technicians as needed.
- Complete and maintain all necessary paperwork and records as required by department.
- Assist other trades as requested or as situation requires.
- Act as standby support for special events.
- Assist with rain leak emergencies including roof patching, sand bag filling and placement, etc.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years general mechanical experience with a demonstrated mechanical ability.
- Ability to prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Ability to complete tasks while causing the least amount of inconvenience to other departments.
- Ability to reason logically in priority setting and problem-solving.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate with all levels of campus community and business contacts.
- Ability to work in a variety of physical environments including on ladders, man-lifts, etc. with heights of up to 30 feet.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safe working practices as defined by industry and regulatory standards.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices as defined by California DMV.
- Ability to comprehend, complete, and implement employer-provided training.
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
Desired Qualifications
Previous or current training in mechanical / HVAC disciplines.
