About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States.

Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded.

Job Summary

The National Electric Energy Testing, Research and Application Center (NEETRAC) is a not-for-profit Testing, Research & Application Center that serves the electric utility industry of North America.

NEETRAC is looking for flexible, motivated and skilled engineering staff. This position is for an electrical engineer who will serve as a principal investigator and understudy in the medium and high voltage testing laboratories.

Over time this engineer will be a principal investigator on increasingly large and complex projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in multiple projects in parallel.
  • Display a thorough understanding of electrical principles.
  • Partner with NEETRAC customers to develop project proposals from their technical needs.
  • Conduct robust and practical experimental programs.
  • Undertake laboratory and field testing, in a hands-on role, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Recommend project ideas / improvements to NEETRAC Members.
  • Undertake the curation and analysis of utility performance / measurement data.
  • Undertake travel for field work and technical interactions with members, as required.

Required Qualifications

Research Engineer I

A Bachelor's degree

Research Engineer II

  • A Master's degree and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master's degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree

This is an open rank posting and final rank will be commensurate to combination of education and experience.
