WAGE RANGE : $93,000 - $108,000 / annually

JOB SUMMARY : Catholic Charities seeks a passionate and dynamic people leader who is compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally aware to join us as our Director of Behavioral Health.

The Director of Behavioral Health Services is responsible for the management and oversight of the behavioral health services provided to residents in all housing within the agency portfolio.

The Director is responsible for creating a collaborative environment in which shared accountability for resident outcomes is reflected in the leadership approach, operations, policies and procedures that govern the supportive housing communities.

The Director supports a service delivery model operating within the construct of Catholic Charities’ mission, vision, and values and is responsible to ensure that all division services focus on person-centered services that are trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally relevant.

The Director works closely with the Sr. Division Director and the Director of Supportive Services to develop and lead a training curriculum for all Housing Division employees, including new hire orientation and regular trainings on best practices.

The Director leads a behavioral health team grounded in a supportive, housing-first, harm reduction orientation for people who have survived long periods of homelessness.

The Director will identify potential funding opportunities for expanding the team. This position reports to the Sr. Division Director for Housing and supervises a team of direct reports, interns, and volunteers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Participates in, or leads, conversations around service provision and options to residents involved in critical incidents.

Integrating best practices of safety planning and risk assessment.

  • Develops introductory and advanced training curriculum on evidence-based and best practices for housing and agency-wide staff.
  • Provides team and 1 : 1 coaching on evidence-based and best practices for housing staff.
  • Promotes a collaborative culture among the housing and supportive services staff members as well as those who support their work from other areas within the organization including co-located partners.
  • Provides clinical case consultation and support to staff in their direct service work with residents.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments as needed.
  • Completes documentation as needed to appropriately serve residents.
  • Participate in the trauma informed care committee and other training workgroups.
  • Manage partnerships with volunteers, social work student interns, and external clinical supervisors. Coordinate work assignments and supervision for volunteers and interns.
  • Supervises and supports direct reports; establishes clear expectations for individual performance and outcomes consistent with strategic organizational goals and holds staff accountable for meeting expectations.
  • Provides strategic consultation to managers and teams on improving resident outcomes and opportunities.
  • Develops staff competency and commitment to principles of housing first, harm reduction, trauma-informed care.
  • Provides guidance and support for handling crisis intervention, conflict mediation among residents, and investigation of critical incidents and resident complaints and concerns.
  • Ensures knowledge of and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the services provided to residents.
  • Identifies service gaps and recommends program and policy options for addressing unmet needs.
  • Works collaboratively with PSH teams and other staff and partners to promote consistency, sharing of emerging practices, innovative problem solving, and organizational learning.
  • Ensures a consistent approach across housing programs to integration of best practices into daily service delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Licensure as a health professional (LICSW, LP, LMFT, LPC, LPCC, APRN, NP, LADC or like / similar licensure)
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant and progressively responsible leadership experience providing services to low-income people, people experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, and people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience with and commitment to harm reduction, housing first philosophies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with client management systems (Credible / HMIS)
  • Familiarity with local behavioral health systems constraints and opportunities and how to navigate on behalf of residents experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and / or mental illness.
  • Has the ability to work with diverse and / or low-income populations, including those who may be experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and / or mental illness.
